About us
COCO is an international children's charity based in Newcastle upon Tyne and working in East Africa. Working in partnership with local organisations, we develop community-owned and operated schools, which provide quality education in a sustainable way. Alongside supporting the development of schools, we support parents and caregivers in the community to increase their income to be able to better meet the basic needs of their children. We do this by providing Sustainable Agriculture Training, which teaches simple, environmentally-friendly farming techniques that protect the delicate local ecosystems whilst increasing crop yields, and providing Small Loans, which are microfinance loans intended to support local entrepreneurs to set up their own business and generate their own income. From the outset, all COCO projects are designed to be self-sustaining so that individuals and communities are empowered to lift themselves out of poverty and create brighter futures for themselves and their families.
OUR VISION is a world where every child has access to quality education.
OUR PURPOSE is to provide education to create the opportunity for children to break the cycle of poverty.
OUR BELIEF is that all children, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or economic circumstance should have the opportunity to receive an education.
OUR MISSION is to provide sustainable sources of quality education to children living in poor and marginalised communities.
